In alignment with assessment guidance provided by NYSED, the OHM BOCES Checkpoint A examination was revamped in 2024-2025. The new format of the exam brought an assortment of exciting new tasks for students to demonstrate their proficiency in their target language. In addition, we know the new format posed challenges for teachers and students alike. We have listened to feedback, examined results, and discussed suggestions and solutions that we feel will help teachers make adjustments to their instruction and strategies that will help students better understand what to expect and how to be more prepared to perform to their abilities on the exam.
