American School for the Deaf is the oldest Deaf school and 200+ years of deaf school in Hartford, Connecticut in the United States. The American School for the Deaf (ASD) was founded on January 1, 1817. Since then, it has been continuously educating deaf children from all over America who have hearing loss or are hard-of-hearing and those with other disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Students at ASD come from diverse backgrounds and experiences that range from hearing families to deaf families to international —all sharing a common goal: education through communication while celebrating diversity.
